Sewing For Beginners

Have you always wanted to learn to sew?

This course is for any beginner level based student who is interested in learning the fundamentals

When is it?

The course runs over three Saturday mornings from 9.30am – 1pm.
Dates are: 31st of August, 7th of September and the 14th of September

Location: Central Coast Community College, Room 8

Course Outline

•How to thread machine and fill a bobbin
•Make a tote
•Cut out and sew a skirt using a commercial pattern
•Sew a zip
•Make a buttonhole
•Read a commercial pattern

What to Bring

•Tape measure
•Fabric pen, pencil & chalk
•Quick unpick
•Dressmaking scissors & Paper scissors
•Thread snips
•Pen, pencil note paper and display book for notes
•Sewing machine in good working order with instruction manual
•1.45 metre fabric 100% cotton, such as Poplin
•Good quality thread matching colour of fabric
•20cm zip matching colour of fabric
•Commercial skirt pattern – any basic A-line skirt with darts and centre back zip e.g. Butterick: B5466
